Delinquency Prevention Unit

Community Education, Public Safety, and Electronic Monitoring

The Delinquency Prevention Unit uses GPS tracking to provide real-time monitoring/surveillance of juveniles to ensure they are following Court-ordered conditions to stay away from areas where they may have been associated with criminal offenses or individuals and to comply with Court-ordered curfews. Staff assigned to the DPU coordinate with youth and family to provide an orientation and explanation of the equipment usage and responsibility for compliance. DPU then activates the GPS unit to be worn by the youth around the ankle and provides GPS monitoring and technical servicing.

The DPU is in Room JM-600 of the Moultrie Courthouse, 500 Indiana Avenue, NW. The unit’s hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; after-hours servicing from 5:30 to 11:00 p.m. The supervisor is Tameisha Crawford; phone number is 202-879-4786.
