D.C. Superior Court and D.C. Bar to offer seminar to help D.C. residents understand the importance of life contingency plans

At this second public seminar, audience members will learn how good planning can help them and their family be prepared -- legally and financially -- for unexpected health challenges. Leading estate planning attorneys will clarify what audience members need to know and do in order to protect assets in the event they or a loved one becomes sick or dies unexpectedly. It is important for people to have the appropriate healthcare directives, wills, and other legal documents to ensure that their wishes are respected.

• Provide for dependents in case you become disabled or die unexpectedly;

• Arrange for someone to manage your affairs if you become disabled;

• Choose someone to make health care decisions if you cannot; and,  

• Ensure that assets are transferred efficiently on your death. .

Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
