Without Prejudice
A claim or cause dismissed without prejudice may be the subject of a new lawsuit.
Witness
A person who testifies to what he or she has seen, heard. or otherwise experienced. Also, a person who observes the signing of a will and is competent to testify that it is the will-maker's intended last will and testament.
Writ
A judicial order directing a person to do something.
Writ of Certiorari
An order issued by the Supreme Court directing the lower court to transmit records for a case that it will hear on appeal.
Youth Court
A diversion program in which youth impose sanctions and rehabilitation recommendations on their peers.
Youth Services Center (YSC)
A fully secure detention center for detained youth located at 1000 Mount Olivet Road, Northeast. This facility is run by the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS).
Youth Shelter House (YSH)
A placement option for youth awaiting trial. YSH placement is out-of-home and staff-secure and is only temporary.
