The Honorable Leslie A. Meek
Bio
Judge Leslie A. Meek was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on December 19, 2021. Her nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 15, 2022.
Judge Meek served the District of Columbia as an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) for over sixteen years. From 2006 to 2014, Judge Meek was an ALJ and Appellate ALJ with the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services Office of Hearings and Adjudication where she adjudicated workers’ compensation cases. In 2014, Judge Meek was appointed an ALJ with the District of Columbia Office of Administrative Hearings. In that role, she heard cases in the Enforcement and Licensing jurisdiction and served as Acting Principal ALJ for the Unemployment Compensation and Enforcement jurisdictions.
Judge Meek’s career is distinguished in both the public and private sector. Prior to becoming an ALJ, Judge Meek was General Counsel for the United Teachers of Dade, the fourth largest teacher’s union in the United States.
While attending law school, Judge Meek was appointed by former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno to serve as Assistant State’s Attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Judge Meek also served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Miami and as Assistant General Counsel for the Comptroller of the State of Florida.
Judge Meek graduated from Fisk University where she earned a B.A. in Political Science, and she earned her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
