On March 17, 2017, the investiture for Chief Judge Anna Blackburne‑Rigsby as the 11th Chief Judge of the DC Court of Appeals took place at the Historic Courthouse at 430 E Street NW in the Ceremonial Courtroom.
Chief Judge Eric T. Washington presided over the ceremony. Judge Emmet Sullivan from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, who also served as Chair of the Judicial Nomination Commission, presented the commission. Remarks were also given by Chief Judge‑ Anna Blackburne‑Rigsby, DC Superior Court Chief Judge Robert E. Morin, and DC Superior Court Judge Robert Rigsby.
