About the Director
Blanche Reese, Director, Crime Victims Compensation Program
Blanche Watson Reese is a native Washingtonian. She started her education in the D.C. public school system. She later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Howard University and her Juris Doctor Degree from Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law. Reese is also admitted to District of Columbia Bar and the Supreme Court Bar, and formerly the Pennsylvania Bar.
Ms. Reese began her career with D.C. Superior Court in December 1994 and has worked in various divisions at the Courts, including 2 years in the Multi-Door Division, 20 years in the Domestic Violence Division, 4 years in the Family Court and a brief detail in the Superior Court Clerk of the Court’s Office.
She was appointed acting director of the Crime Victims Compensation Program in October 2020 and was permanently appointed to that position in May 2022. Her motto is “Proficiency, Efficiency and Consistency.” Her goal is for the Crime Victims Compensation Program to be the model program for other compensation programs by providing excellent customer service, information and meeting the needs of crime victims in the District of Columbia.
