The Process
The interactive process begins after the DC Courts receive your online submission and medical documentation. This is a dialogue between the individual who needs the accommodation, and the ADACoordinator [at] dcsc.gov (ADA coordinator). There may be meetings, phone calls, email correspondence, and research; experts may be consulted, and documentation is collected and reviewed. The process concludes once an agreement is in place.
In most cases, medical documentation is necessary. The Courts waive this requirement when the impairment is obvious or already known.
The ADA coordinator will determine if the medical documentation and application are sufficient. If so, the court user covered and protected by the ADA.
The Courts generally process the agreed-upon accommodation within 45 calendar days.
