The 10th Annual Youth Law Fair will focus on how communication through music, internet use, and text messaging presents challenges such as spreading rumors and gossip, inciting violent acts, and soliciting gang affiliation. The Youth Law Fair is a joint effort of the DC Superior Court and the DC Bar and engages teens in mock trials and ‘speak-out session’ discussions of legal issues relevant to their lives. This event was established to give youth in the District of Columbia a positive, “hands on” experience with various aspects of the law and a better appreciation of the judicial system. 
 
This free, full-day educational event at the Moultrie Courthouse brings high school students, lawyers, judges, and educators together to explore issues facing students in the DC area. The event includes exhibits; tours of the courthouses, judges’ chambers and holding cells, led by Superior Court judges; speak-out sessions, mock trials; lunch; and door prizes.
