The Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges has forwarded to Chief Judge Robert Morin the names of six lawyers for his consideration in selecting nominees to the Board of Judges to fill the magistrate judge vacancies in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the departures from the magistrate judge bench of Gretchen Rohr and Elizabeth Wingo.

Tyrona Ties’e DeWitt has been an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Protection Section of the Family Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia since 2004. She litigates cases concerning the abuse and neglect of children with related adoptions, termination proceedings and guardianship matters. In 2012, she completed a six-month rotation in the Mental Health Section of the Office of the Attorney General where she addressed petitions related to mental health issues. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University and graduated summa cum laude from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law. She clerked for the Honorable Judith Bartnoff of the District of Columbia Superior Court from 2002 to 2003.

Heidi L. Herrmann has been practicing with the Department of Justice for the last 15 years. Currently she is a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the Department, where she prosecutes fraud and other crimes in federal courts across the country. From 2008-2014, Ms. Herrmann served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. There she prosecuted sex offenses and domestic violence crimes in Superior Court. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Geology and English, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University and a J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve School of Law. Upon graduation from law school Ms. Herrmann was an Associate with Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio. She clerked for Hon. Solomon Oliver, Jr., US District Court, Northern District of Ohio, from 1999 to 2000.

Shridevi Madhure has been a Criminal Justice Act (CJA) attorney since 2010. She has represented clients in traffic, domestic violence, misdemeanor, and felony cases as well as witnesses in grand jury proceedings. Prior to joining the CJA Panel, Ms. Madhure worked as a paralegal at the New Orleans Public Defenders’ Office. She received a Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film, concentration in African American and Asian American Studies, from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2002 and completed post-Baccalaureate studies in Early Childhood Education at the University of St. Thomas in May 2004. She received a J.D. from Howard University School of Law in May 2007. During law school, she served as a law clerk at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.

Shelly Ava Mulkey is currently an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where she represents the District of Columbia in child support cases and mentors new attorneys and staff. She participates on the DC Superior Court Paternity & Support Subcommittee tasked with improving court function and creating a centralized location to post and retrieve information about employment, education, and training opportunities in the District. At the Law Offices of Alice Paré, Ms. Mulkey represented clients in civil matters, including domestic relations and bankruptcy cases. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Tulane University and her law degree from the American University, Washington College of Law. Following law school, Ms. Mulkey clerked for the Honorable Eric M. Johnson, Sixth Judicial Circuit of Maryland.

Adav Noti is Acting Associate General Counsel at the Federal Election Commission in Washington, DC, Complaint Examiner, District of Columbia Office of Police Complaints and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. He has spent his entire career as a government litigator and policymaker, primarily litigating constitutional cases in the federal district and circuit courts. He also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia from 2011 through 2012. Mr. Noti graduated from Georgetown University with a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and he received his law degree from New York University School of Law. After law school Mr. Noti clerked for the Honorable Berle M. Schiller, United States District Judge in Philadelphia, PA.

Jonathan Hale Pittman is currently the Assistant Deputy Attorney General for the Civil Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, where he assists in managing the Civil Litigation Division. From September 2012 until April 1, 2016, Mr. Pittman was a Section Chief in the Civil Litigation Division, where he supervised attorneys and staff in one of the Civil Litigation Division’s litigation sections. From 1991 to 2012, he was an associate and then partner with Crowell & Moring LLP. Mr. Pittman received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vassar College in 1985 and received a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Pittman served as a law clerk to the Honorable John A. Terry of the DC Court of Appeals.
