The Family Court Act of 2001 provided many new resources to the DC Superior Court so that it could set up a model Family Court to serve the families and children of the District of Columbia. One provision of that Act required that all city agencies that provide services to children and families be given space within the courthouse so that services and appointments could be immediately provided to families and children in need. The Family Services Center is that central location and will be officially open for service as of February 20.
