The DC Superior Court will host Civil Rights hero James “Bud” Ward on Friday, September 22, 2006. After facing racial discrimination in the hotel industry during the 1960s, Ward became a senior vice-president at Marriott and one of the first black corporate executives. Ward has been recognized by HR Magazine as “one of the 50 people who most impacted human resources in the past 50 years” and recently received the Jackie Robinson Foundation Robie Award for Lifetime Achievement. Employees of the Courts and their guests are invited to a discussion with Mr. Ward focusing on his participation in the civil rights movement and integration in the corporate world.
