WHAT: Twitter Q & A with DC Court of Appeals Chief Judge Eric Washington and  DC Superior Court Chief Judge Lee Satterfield

WHEN: May 1, 2012 (Law Day) -- 1 to 2pm

The DC Courts are pleased to announce that in celebration of Law Day, DC Court of Appeals Chief Judge Eric Washington and DC Superior Court Chief Judge Lee Satterfield will be answering questions from the public through the court’s Twitter account, @DCCourtsInfo. Those who want to pose a question to the Chief Judges can do so by including #AsktheCJs in the body of their tweet.
“In the past two years, we have strived to improve our communications with the public via Twitter and Facebook” said Chief Judge Eric Washington. “Ensuring public trust and confidence in our judiciary is a chief priority, and our twitter dialogue on Law Day will provide an ideal platform for answering questions that the public may have about courts and the judicial branch of government. The Q and A will support our vision of the DC Courts as ‘Open to All, Trusted by All, Justice for All.’”
“Our Twitter Q and A is a tremendous opportunity for members of the public to ask us questions, and an excellent opportunity for us to demystify the judicial system for those who aren’t as familiar with it,” said Chief Judge Lee Satterfield. “We are anxious to answer questions and get feedback from the public.  We do this through outreach at townhall meetings and other events across the city; social media provides us with one more way of communicating with the DC residents we serve.”
The DC Courts are on Twitter with the username @DCCourtsInfo.  Those interested can sign up to follow the Courts’ Twitter feed, and can submit questions for the Chief Judges any time before 2pm on Tuesday, May 1 by using the “hashtag” (phrase allowing searches to locate the tweet) #AsktheCJs.
