The DC Courts and the D.C Bar will co-host their biennial Judicial-Bar Conference on Friday, April 17, 2015. The theme of conference is “Meeting Mental Health Challenges in Our Legal System.” The keynote luncheon speaker will be Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds, who has become a leading voice in the fight for mental health care reform. The conference will be one day and will feature a number of differing seminar sessions in the afternoon, after State of the Judiciary remarks by the two Chief Judges, a State of the Bar address by the DC Bar President, and a plenary session in the morning entitled „Community Integration and the Courts.‟

Plenary sessions will cover a wide range of mental health topics, such as addressing the mental health needs of low income children, developments in guardianship law, mental health discrimination in access to care, and an interdisciplinary examination of psychotropic medication. ewIn addition, there will be a session at 2:15 entitled “So, You Want to be a Judge in the District of Columbia?”
