Six Attorneys Recommended for Two D.C. Superior Court Magistrate Judge Vacancies

The Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges has forwarded to Chief Judge Morin the names of six lawyers for his consideration in selecting nominees to the Board of Judges to fill the magistrate judge vacancies in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia created by the retirements of Magistrate Judges Pamela Gray and Lori Parker.

Tanya Jones Bosier has been a member of the DC Bar for the past 15 years. She is currently an Assistant General Counsel for the DC Courts. Prior to her employment with the DC Courts, Ms. Bosier worked as an Assistant Attorney General, DC Office of Attorney General. She is a graduate of Syracuse University and American University Washington College of Law. Ms. Bosier also served as law clerk to the Honorable Zoe Bush.

Jack Sansome Gilmore has been a member of the DC Bar for 8 years. At present, he is a CJA Panel Attorney, handling criminal and traffic matters in the Criminal Division of the DC Superior Court. He also serves as a PINS Panel Attorney, GAL and CCAN Panel Attorney. From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Gilmore worked as a Resource Advisor for Offender Aid and Restoration of the District of Columbia. From 2008-2009, he worked as a staff attorney in the Community Defender Division of the DC Public Defender Service. Mr. Gilmore is a graduate of Morehouse College and the North Carolina Central University School of Law. In addition, he served as a judicial law clerk in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas under Family Court Judge Brenda Frazier Clemons.

Emily Anna Gunston is an attorney in the Special Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. Before being promoted to Special Litigation Counsel, Ms. Gunston served as a Trial Attorney from 2009 until January of 2014. Prior to her employment at the Department of Justice, she was a Deputy Public Defender in the Contra Costa County Office of the Public Defender. Ms. Gunston is a cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of California Berkeley School of Law.

Heidi L. Herrmann has been practicing with the Department of Justice for the last 15 years. Currently she is a trial attorney in the Civil Division of the Department, where she prosecutes fraud and other crimes in federal courts across the country. From 2008-2014, Ms. Herrmann served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the DC United States Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted sex offenses and domestic violence crimes in Superior Court. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Geology and English, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University and a J.D., cum laude, from Case Western Reserve School of Law. Upon graduation from law school Ms. Herrmann was an Associate with Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, in Cleveland, Ohio. She clerked for Hon. Solomon Oliver, Jr., US District Court, Northern District of Ohio, 1999- 2000.

Adav Noti is Acting Associate General Counsel at the Federal Election Commission in Washington, DC He also serves as a Complaint Examiner, DC Office of Police Complaints and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. He has spent his entire career as a government litigator and policymaker, primarily litigating constitutional cases in the federal courts. In 2011- 2012, he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in DC Superior Court. Mr. Noti graduated from Georgetown University with a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and he received his law degree from New York University School of Law. After law school Mr. Noti clerked for US District Court Judge Berle Schiller in Philadelphia, PA.

Charmetra Lynette Parker is currently a Section Chief in the Family Services Division, Child Protection Section of the DC Office of the Attorney General and has been employed at the Office of Attorney General since 2005. As an Assistant Attorney General she handled child abuse and neglect cases. Prior to joining the OAG’s office, from 2003 – 2005, Ms. Parker was an Associate at Randall & Sonnier, LLC, in Baltimore, Maryland. Ms. Parker is a graduate of the University of West Florida and Wake Forest University School of Law.
