pdf file District of Columbia Courts Employment Application Form [251k]

In order to view the District of Columbia Courts Employment form, you need to have Acrobat Reader version 7 or higher installed on your computer. After you open the document, you may type your information into the PDF directly.

How to Apply

Applicants are chosen based on a competitive selection process, which may include clerical testing and/or supplemental ranking factors.

  1. Complete a D.C. Courts Employment Application. If you choose to type your information into the PDF directly, make sure to save the completed PDF file to your computer. The saved PDF file can be attached in an e-mail file if you want to apply online, or you may print it out and fax or mail it to us.
  2. If necessary, complete any supplemental ranking factors. A candidate's supplemental ranking factors should describe the experience, education, or training that demonstrates his or her qualification for each factor. Failure to respond to the ranking factors may disqualify a candidate from further consideration.
  3. Attach any necessary documentation, such as proof of education or professional license.
Applications can be e-mailed, mailed, hand-delivered, or faxed to the D.C. Courts’ Human Resources Division. If you choose to apply through e-mail, save the PDF and then send it as an attachment to an e-mail addressed to jobs@dcsc.gov. In addition, as mentioned above, make sure that supplemental ranking factors and all other necessary documents – such as proof of education or professional license – are attached to the e-mail as well. If you have e-mailed your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail upon the receipt of your application. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail by the end of the next business day, please contact the D.C. Courts' Human Resources Division by phone at (202) 879-0496. Also, applications can be mailed to 500 Indiana Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 or hand-delivered to the Human Resources Division, 616 H Street, NW - Sixth Floor, Washington, D.C. 20001. Applications may also be faxed to (202) 879-4212 for submission. All applicants who hand-deliver applications will receive a written receipt upon delivery. All applicants who fax their applications should accept a fax report as confirmation.

Once applications are received, Human Resources Division staff will select the most highly qualified candidates to be considered by the hiring manager for an interview and/or other selection method. The Human Resources Division's goal is to have a selection made 30-90 days after the position's closing date, except for roster positions such as courtroom clerk or deputy clerk. (“Roster positions” are those for which there are multiple positions and relatively frequent vacancies, so that the Courts keep a list of qualified applicants available at all times.) Division staff will notify you of any decision.
