Civil Mediation Program
The Civil Mediation Program is governed by court orders and administrative procedures. Pro se parties as well as attorneys are required to complete a Confidential Settlement Statement one month prior to the mediation. Cases are most often assigned to mediators based on the case type and the mediator's experience and legal expertise.
Mediators contact pro se parties and attorneys prior to the scheduled mediation session to ensure that the case is in the best posture for settlement discussions to begin. During the mediation, a trained mediator assists the parties and their lawyers in exploring possible options for settlement. Through a series of joint and individual meetings with all parties and attorneys, the mediator works toward a mutually acceptable agreement, typically within a two-hour period. Mediation is conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week at the Multi-Door Mediation Center. There is a 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. docket. Complex cases usually are scheduled for mediation in the mediator's office and often require several sessions to complete.
How to Apply Multi-Door recruits mediators in two ways. Trained and highly-qualified mediators should apply through the open enrollment process. Applying through the open enrollment process does not guarantee you will be selected. Applications are reviewed on an as needed basis. Based on your application Multi-Door may qualify you conditionally. If you qualify, Multi-Door staff will arrange to observe you in a mediation session. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to mediate in a Multi-Door program on an as needed basis. Please mail your application to:

Open Enrollment Application
People interested in mediating in a Multi-Door's program who do not meet the minimum qualification in the Open Enrollment Application may apply to attend a training, when offered. We typically train in a particular program once every three years. Multi-Door does not have any trainings scheduled at this time.
