Small Claims Program
The Small Claims Mediation Program provides mediation to parties filing claims in the Court's Small Claims and Conciliation Branch which involve monetary compensation claims of $5,000 or less. Small claims cases involve complaints related to consumer/service providers, disputes between landlords and tenants, roommates, neighbors and much more. The Small Claims Mediation Program also provides mediation in collection and insurance subrogation matters involving claims up to $25,000.
A Superior Court magistrate judge oversees all Small Claims matters. Participation in mediation is required by the court, however reaching an agreement is voluntary. Most Small Claims litigants are pro se (that is, they represent themselves), but some choose to bring an attorney. Defendant corporations are required by law to be represented by an attorney. Mediators assist the parties in reaching mutually acceptable agreements. Small Claims mediations are held Monday thru Friday beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. Mediation sessions usually last 1 to 2 hours.
How to Apply Multi-Door recruits mediators in two ways. Trained and highly-qualified mediators should apply through the open enrollment process. Applying through the open enrollment process does not guarantee you will be selected. Applications are reviewed on an as needed basis. Based on your application Multi-Door may qualify you conditionally. If you qualify, Multi-Door staff will arrange to observe you in a mediation session. If your application is accepted, you will be invited to mediate in a Multi-Door program on an as needed basis. Please mail your application to:

Open Enrollment Application
People interested in mediating in a Multi-Door's program who do not meet the minimum qualification in the Open Enrollment Application may apply to attend a training, when offered. We typically train in a particular program once every three years. Multi-Door does not have any trainings scheduled at this time.
