How to Apply

Applicants are chosen based on a competitive selection process, which may include clerical testing and/or supplemental ranking factors.

  1. Complete a D.C. Courts Application.
  2. If necessary, complete any supplemental ranking factors. A candidate's supplemental ranking factors should describe the experience, education, or training that demonstrates his or her qualification for each factor. Failure to respond to the ranking factors may disqualify a candidate from further consideration.
  3. Attach any necessary documentation, such as proof of education or professional license.
    Applications can be mailed, 500 Indiana Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 or hand-delivered to the Human Resources Division, 616 H Street, NW - Sixth Floor, Washington, D.C. 20001 or applications may be faxed to (202) 879-4212.

Once applications are received, staff selects the most highly qualified candidates to be considered by the hiring manager for an interview. The Division's goal is to make a selection 30 days after the position's closing date, except for roster positions such as a courtroom clerk. Division staff will notify you of any decision.
